A Visit to the Dubai Museum of the Future
When I visited the Museum of the Future in December 2022, it quickly became one of the most inspiring places I’ve seen. Even before going inside, just the building itself felt like a big piece of art. The massive, futuristic structure was covered in Arabic calligraphy that actually forms the windows. Seeing language used as part of the architecture was really interesting to me, because it showed how art can exist in places you don’t necessarily expect it to, not just in paintings or galleries.
Inside, the museum didn’t feel like a typical museum at all. Instead of just looking at displays, each space was designed to be physically and visually immersive, kind of like you were stepping into another world. One area that stood out to me was the Library of Life, where thousands of different species were displayed in glowing capsules. The way they used light and arrangement made it feel more like a giant art installation than a science exhibit.
Another space that stuck with me was Al Waha, which was designed to be a calming environment focused on future wellness. The soft pink colors, curved shapes, and quiet atmosphere made the whole space feel peaceful and almost dreamlike. It showed how design and color can affect how people feel when they enter a space.
What inspired me most about the museum was how it was able to blend and weave together 3 different elements: art, technology, and storytelling. Every part of the building and the exhibits were carefully designed to create a visual experience. It made me realize that art isn’t limited to drawing or painting, but that it can also exist in architecture, digital design, and interactive spaces.
